The countries of the Pacific Alliance – Chile, Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Barbados have confirmed their participation in the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017. Thus, the total number of the participating countries reached 111.

According to representatives of the new participating countries of the Exhibition, its theme “Future Energy” is very topical for the countries of the Pacific Alliance, because they are actively exploring the possibility of wide application of renewable energy sources. For example, Chile, where the mining industry is booming, uses solar and wind energy. Peru, despite the great potential of hydropower resources and substantial reserves of natural gas and gas condensate, develops solar, wind and geothermal energy. Colombia, which has produced solar energy cars, also has considerable potential for alternative energy development. Mexico, being one of the oil-producing countries, is actively searching for new types of energy.

The world’s renewable energy generation leader – Costa Rica – is also in the same region, and it uses up to 90% of energy derived from alternative sources.
