Thousands of paper birds will ‘migrate’ over the heads of visitors to the Polish Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, as the nation seeks to underline its status as a powerhouse of production.

The kinetic design of the pavilion, created by architectural studio WXCA, will represent the widespread seasonal migration of birds from their Polish birthplace to the Arab world.

This journey, which aligns with the Expo 2020 Dubai subtheme ofMobility, symbolises Poland’s multifaceted connections across the globe through cultural and commercial exchange, social migration and the constant flow of goods and ideas.

The pavilion’s wooden design also supports Expo’s subtheme ofSustainability, utilising a renewable resource to create a tree-like modern structure. Set across 2,000 sqm, it will promote Polish culture and technology through a combination of interactive spaces, as well as a children’s zone.

In addition toMobilityandSustainability, the nation is keen to showcase its ability to design innovative, high-quality goodsen masse. The largest producer of furniture in the European Union and the third largest in the world, it plans to manufacture its pavilion in Poland before assembling it in the UAE.

More than 180 countries are expected to participate at Expo 2020 Dubai, which will mark its ‘Two Years to Go’ milestone on 20 October, 2018. Poland is the latest country to unveil its pavilion design for the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region’s first ever World Expo, and more nations are set to reveal their plans in the near future.
