After a summer vacation, students came back to Mayao Primary School of Dashi Town, Gangu County, Gansu Province.

The First Lesson for Children, a World Expo Museum (WEM) and Childhood Lesson's joint out-reach education program for kids in remote areas and part of WEM’s Expo Lecture Hall series, finally went online in the new semester after the test of last semester! Travelling more than 1,800 kilometers across half of the country, the online experience program reached the classroom of Mayao Primary School through the "cloud classroom"(webcast) platform. You can imagine how the students of Mayao Primary School and the staff of WEM looked forward to the first class in the new semester!

Let's take a look at the class!

Before the class started, the teachers from WEM tested the equipment and got the courseware ready.

The lecturer reviewed some knowledge points of the last semester and showed the pictures of the Crystal Palace drawn by the students in the last semester.

On the multimedia cloud platform, the kids "visited" World Expos and WEM in Shanghai.

WEM is committed to spreading World Expo knowledge and promoting online education for remote village schools in the mountains. The "First Lesson for Children" project is an important pilot initiative of WEM to integrate "museum + public welfare + Internet + education".

The 40-minute session seemed very short. Long after the class was over, the students of Mayao Primary School still looked at the screen and did not want to leave. The teachers from WEM was also reluctant to end the session.

Then the teachers and students made an appointment to meet for the next session.

Schedule: Starting at 15:35 pm every Thursday

Session titles:"Milestones under the Stars","Journey over Centuries","City of Magic","Dream of Freedom of Movement","Mascot Stories","Foods and Gourmets","Funs at World Expos" and "Big Guys and Small Stories."

Primary and secondary school students from every part of China are welcome to sigh up for the Expo Lecture Hall program.
