Shanghai International Arts Festival Fuels Art Education: Welcome to the Family Art Camp at WEM's WE Theatre

  On September 26, a media briefing was held at WEM for launching the20th China Shanghai International Arts Festival Arts Plus Program  

  The 20th China Shanghai International Arts Festival will last from October 19 to November 22, 2018. As an important part of the festival celebration, the Arts Plus Program, inaugurated in 2015, has helped bring the festival closer to the citizens through high-quality art performances, guided tours, and a wide range of interactive experiences.

  A media briefing session for the Arts Plus Program was held at WEM on the afternoon of September 26.The organizer said that this year's Arts Plus Program has five carefully planned modules: special event, art entering the campus, students entering the theater, art communication, and art training camps. They will happen in more than 50 schools, business districts and community venues in Shanghai. More than 100 events will be brought to teachers, students, families and art fans of all ages.

  This year, the special event will be "Family Art Camp". International art groups will be invited to perform for family audience, including parents and kids who love art. Six performances will be staged in WEM on the four weekends during the festival.In addition to watching art performance in various forms, kids will also be able to participate in live performances and behind-the-scenes work, which will fuel their passion for art and their creativity.

  To serve the needs of younger kids, the Arts Plus Program events will be great fun and interactive. On the 4 weekends from October 20 to November 11, there will be 6 performances at the WE Theatre, including the Australian interactive music show The Amazing Drumming Monkeys, the German kids symphony concert DER ELEFANTENPUPS, the Estonian Tallinn Boys Choir Concert, Asian Culture Center's drama Little Musician, Schillar and Palle's children concert I Am a Musician, and BRUSH Theatre's screen art show Yao Yao. All these performances will give kids an unforgettable experience of art with fun and laughter.

  In addition to the wonderful performances, there will be music exploration workshops which will offer direct contact with music and lead kids into the world of art.Still, the 4D movie Amazing Adventure at Expo will be a big attraction. Using cutting-edge technology to restore the grandeur of Expo 2010 Shanghai, the movie gives kids an enchanting view of the future which means confidence and hope for them.

  1. Amazing Drumming Monkeys  

  Time: 10:15 am, October 20

  Venue: WEM WE Theater

  Description: Two cute little monkeys sing and dance, beating African drums and laughing at jokes.

  The show is a unique combination of action and quietness. A kid with strong curiosity or pure innocence will be inspired amid laughter.

  2. DER ELEFANTENPUPS  

  Time: 10:30 am, October 27

  Venue: WEM WE Theater

  Description: A story full of innocent fun is told through humorous action and wonderful symphony, with the aid of vivid pictures.The performance proves art is without borders. It is a relaxing and enjoyable session of classical music education, as well as an amazing audiovisual symphony concert.

  3. Estonian Tallinn Boys Choir Concert  

  Time: 10:15 pm, November 3

  Venue: WEM WE Theater

  Description: The choir has a diversified repertoire ranging from Gregorian chants to vocal polyphonic songs, from Estonian traditional music to African spiritual songs. Every song brings you a different feeling. It is an internationally renowned choir that has performed in many countries, including the United States, Canada, Germany, Japan, and Europe.

  4. Little Musician  

  Time: 9:15 am, November 10

  Venue: WEM WE Theater

  Description: On the magical hi-tech stage, the fantasy story spurs imagination. It transcends language and emotion, and also transcends time and space. Every note or beat, amid the ups and downs of the music, creates thrilling beauty for the audience. It also moves the audience with warm family affection.

  5. I Am a Musician  

  Time: 15:00 pm, November 10

  Venue: WEM WE Theater

  Description: It is an amazing adventure to create an ensemble of bass, tambourine, ukulele, saxophone, trumpet and guitar together with classical musical instruments and Chinese modern pop music.This program offers on-site learning and instant group formation facilitated by the artists.Every kid can be a "little musician", so long as he or she tries to be.

  6. Yao Yao  

  Time: 9:15 am, November 11

  Venue: WEM WE Theater

  Description: Yao Yao is a screen art show in which magical performances and the curious hero alike draw the attention of the audience, bringing the parents accompanying their kids back to their own childhood. With a pair of keen eyes for beauty, you will find that every day is an art festival. Parental companionship is the most valuable part of the event.
