WEM’s Entrance Hall

Expo 2017 Astana Kazakhstan was opened on June 10 and will last for three months. Republic of Kazakstan is a landlocked country in Central Asia and the largest inland country in the world. Expo 2017 Astana is the first expo hosted by a Central Asian country, and is targeted to attract 5 million visitors.

With an exhibition area of 630 square meters, the “WEM Pavilion” is arranged at 407 Pavilion, close to the east entrance of the Site and adjacent with Japan Pavilion and Vietnam Pavilion. The symbolic buildings of expos held in different years are placed in the middle of the waiting area that is easy for the visitors to realize the pavilions’ subjects.Expo Astana has been opened for one week, and received 9660 visitors accumulatively.

The Expo Origin Hall explores the origin of World Expo, mainly introduces the theme of WEM Pavilion, the Expo Spirit formed by all Expos and the origin and objectives of The Convention Relating to International Exhibitions, explains the definition and classification of World Expo and exhibits the logos of WEM and the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).

The visitors’ attention is first attracted by a huge poster at the exhibition hall entrance. On the blue cast of the poster are the most representative pavilions and exhibits in the history of World Expo, indicating that we will never forget to remember the history while focusing to the future.

When entering the Expo Origin Hall through the exhibition hall entrance, what catch your eyes first are a few large luminous characters that highlight the theme of the WEM Pavilion, three logos and Expo Spirit. The scroll ceiling mounted in the middle of the exhibition hall is also very eye-catching. Its spiral shape symbolizes convergence, exploration and continuation, transmitting such a signal that people’s curiosity about the world has never stopped since Expos have been held for more than a century, people have been keeping exploring and progressing, and Expo Spirit will be always passed down.

The entire exhibition hall expresses Expo Theme and Spirit with artistic language, and tells the story of the origin of the World Expo. Taking black and white as dominant hue, the entrance hall of the exhibition area guides visitors to the next part of exhibition.

Touch Screen  in Expo History Hall

Based on the history of World Expo, the Expo History Hall gives a comprehensive review of the important development stages of World Expo from several aspects of “Timeline of World Expo”, “Expo Stories”, “The World Comes Together”, “Moving With Progress”, “A New Order” and “World of Challenges”.

Upon getting into the exhibition hall, the first things that comes into your eyes are graphic display panels which are well-designed and arranged with rich contents, introducing the times, places and themes of the expos hosted in over 160 years. Embedded at the edge of the display panels is light emitting strips that increase the brightness of the showrooms and make the exhibition walls more identifiable and aesthetical at the same time under the precondition of not destroying the overall display atmosphere. Above the panels are innovative videos about “Expo Historical Stories” that play in all exhibition halls and present an entire Expo development timeline.

In the middle of the exhibition hall are open Expo-related classical exhibits and sculptures in modern installation art form, representing the stories in more than 160 years of Expo history. The exhibits on the booth interact with the lights, full of vigor and vitality in the rendering of lights.

The showcase display area followed by combines multimedia touch device and traditional showcase, and displays exhibits on several touch showcases. The name of each exhibit is shown on the energized glass screen surface of the touch showcase. Upon touching the button with a finger, the showcase instantly transforms from transparent state and shows exhibits accordingly, and the detailed description of the exhibits are also shown on the glass screens of showcases.

Virtuality and reality are applied here alternately, which makes the showcases huge touch e-books and exhibit converters, like magic show attracting the eyes of a large number of visitors.

The showbills hanging down from the top of the exhibition hall are seen throughout the Expo History Hall. While representing the grand occasions of World Expos in history, they also play a role in beautifying the environment of exhibition hall, enriching the content of the exhibition, and creating a historical atmosphere.

Mainly based on the tones of brown and grey, the exhibition hall is designed to create a quiet and nostalgic display atmosphere, whichtallies with the historical contents and brings the audience into the atmosphere of history.
