Participate in Expo and promote the image of Shanghai. Instructed by the BIE and Chinese Embassy in Astana, “Amazing Shanghai” and Expo Astana Exhibits Donation were held on the first floor of WEM Pavilion on Astana time August 28. The events were co-hosted by Information Office of Shanghai Municipal Government , Shanghai Foreign Cultural Exchange Association, Shanghai Library and some other organizations. Mr. Zhu Yonglei, Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Deputy Director of Propaganda Department of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, Dimitri, Deputy Secretary of the BIE, Ms. Liu Jiangping, Charge d’Affires of Chinese Embassy in Astana, and Ilya Orazakov, Director of International Exhibition Department of Organizing Committee of Expo 2017 Astana , presented the events and delivered speeches, and more than 100 General Commissioners of the national exhibitors and the directors attended the events.

As a famous brand promotion project of Shanghai municipal government, the “Amazing Shanghai” was highly spoken during the world tour promotion. It gave the opportunity for more foreign friends to know the city of Shanghai and to know the charm of Shanghai. Expo adds more charm to Shanghai, and Shanghai injects profoundness to World Expo as well. Witnessed by the framework of “The Belt and Road Initiatives”, the “Amazing Shanghai” came to the vigorous city of Astana. It brings the city culture of Shanghai to the visitors and takes back the friendship of Astana to Shanghai.

Shanghai city image Promo film was at the venue of the events. The “Window of Shanghai” project of Shanghai Library presented Nazarbayev University Library the books and cultural supplies that reflect Chinese culture, with a hope that Astana citizens and young students can get to know China through the books and experience of charm of Shanghai.

Interactive Experience of “Flying Across Shanghai”

Co-built by the BIE and Shanghai Municipal Government, the WEM has already successfully participated into Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea, and Expo 2015 Milan Italy. With the great support of all exhibitors, the WEM not only collected many precious collects themed at “Future Energy” at  Expo Astana to keep Expo memories, but also arranged the WEM Exhibition area named Amazing Shanghai to publicize and promote the image of Shanghai to the visitors from various countries through showcase of the photos of Shanghai, “Flying cross Shanghai” VR dynamic vehicles and some other works.

To collect exhibits from previous and future sessions of Expos is one of the important responsibilities of the WEM. The WEM will, through the re-exhibition of the exhibits, not only enable more visitors to know the spectacular occasions and connotation of Expos, but also record the development course and spirit of World Expo. The WEM’s collection of exhibits under the instruction of the BIE is greatly supported by all exhibitors. Up to now, the representatives of 45 national pavilions have donated over 200 exhibits to the WEM. On the same day,  Director of the WEM Liu Xiuhua granted nation certificates to the representatives of donators from Belarus Pavilion, China Pavilion, France Pavilion, Finland Pavilion, Italy Pavilion, Lithuania Pavilion, Pakistan Pavilion, Poland Pavilion, Singapore Pavilion, Korea Pavilion, Spain Pavilion, Swiss Pavilion, Thailand Pavilion and UK Pavilion. Representing the exhibitors who have signed the donation agreement, the representatives of Belarus Pavilion, France Pavilion, Poland Pavilion and Spain Pavilion made a speech respectively to express their gratitude to Shanghai, “the City of Expo”, for collecting and exhibiting the Expo memory of their countries. Meanwhile, they expressed their support to the exhibit collection works of the WEM.

Director of the WEM Liu Xiuhua extended her gratitude to all exhibitors for their great support to the WEM, and revealed to reporters that the WEM would hold an Expo Astana Retrospective Exhibition in Shanghai from next June to September. By then all these exhibits from Expo Astana will be shown on stage for another to give the visitors from home and abroad to experience the spectacular occasions of Expo Astana, and the innovative interpretation of all exhibitors about the theme of “Future Energy”.

It is reported that in three months since the opening of Expo Astana, WEM Pavilion has received more than 300,000 visitors. They have not only learned the history of the World Expo, but also fully experienced the unique charm of Shanghai, the city held Expo 2010.
