Mr. Feng introduces that the theme of China Pavilion at the coming Expo will be “Build a Community of Shared Future for Mankind – Innovation and Opportunity”. With a coverage of 4636 square meters, this self-built pavilion will become an eye-catching point as well as one of the largest coverages during the Expo.

The pavilion is named as “Glory of China” for implying hope and prospect. The design follows the principle of “combining Chinese and Western style, with a focus on Chinese style of both ancient and contemporary features”, thoughtfully integrates Chinese elements with modern technology, and showcases the cultural confidence and grandeur of China as a mega-country. The appearance of China Pavilion resembles a traditional Chinese lantern, but with a touch of modern architecture, which enables the pavilion to be magnificent and dignified. Lantern signifies brightness, unification, auspice and happiness in Chinese culture, whereas in the context of Expo, it means the get-together and communication between countries, so as to develop side by side and create a big family and a community with shared future for mankind. It also represents as a light along the “Belt and Road”, lighting up a bright future full of opportunities.

China Pavilion is designed into four parts, namely “Exploration and Discovery”,“Communication and Connection”,“Innovation and Cooperation” and “Opportunity and Future”. The pavilion is outlined as “innovation creates opportunity, opportunity creates future, and future creates common development”. It will display the achievements of China in technology and information communication, and act as a platform of the “Belt and Road” initiative and proposal of “Build a Community of Shared Future for Mankind”. In the next stage attention will be given to the in-depth design, on-site construction, event planning, promotion and other tasks.

Mr. Feng points out three highlights of China Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai:

  1. Thematic Innovation. Themed as “Build a Community of Shared Future for Mankind – Innovation and Opportunity”, China Pavilion has focused on innovation. It is to introduce to the world that China insists on the innovation driven by both technology and institution, and will implement the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 and the development goal as stated in the theme.

  2. Architectural Innovation. China Pavilion will organically integrate the traditional Chinese elements with modern architectural concepts and techniques, fully represent the spirit and feature of contemporary China, express cultural confidence and create a marvelous story of China in an international context. The pavilion applies eco-friendly materials, reflecting Chinese culture by means of modern techniques. Powered by multimedia technology, the night light show of China Pavilion will become a landscape in the Expo Site.

  3. Technological Innovation. Technological innovation outcomes will be displayed in China Pavilion, including those in the field of information, technology and transportation. Various top-notch and high-quality achievements, such as “Tianyan” FAST,“Beidou” Satellite, 5G technology and artificial intelligence, are to be displayed in China Pavilion for the first time. New technologies such as the simulated operation of high-speed train and intelligent connected vehicles are also planned to go on the stage of Expo, interpreting “smart transportation”.
