The WEM Promotion and Education Group with the President and Faculty of Yangzhou Special Education School

Established in 1947, Yangzhou Special Education School has a long history. Ranging from kindergarten to senior high school, the school provides special education to people who have special needs. Focusing on rehabilitation, subjectiveness, individualism and professional education, the school strives to improve its teaching quality through a series of reform so as to provide the students with a better life after graduation.

Giving lessons to special kids is a brand new task for the WEM promotion and education group. It is an arduous task, as firstly students have different special requirements, i.e. audiovisual and articulating barriers, and secondly students are of different ages, ranging from primary school to senior high school, thus the said group has to adjust its content and teaching method. In order to ensure the teaching quality, the group made several rehearsals to cater to the special needs of the students.

  During the rehearsal

As soon the group arrived at the school, they started preparation for the class, got to know and interact with the students.

  Interacting with students before class

The World Expo Mini Lecture followed a welcoming speech by teacher Guan from the office of student affairs. During the class, students tried their best to express themselves by making sign languages. Their facial expressions and enthusiasm greatly moved us. The lesson, as a moving museum, enlarged the student’s scope of knowledge and made them feel the happiness and charm of learning new knowledge. It is a special and meaningful gift for them.

The class deeply inspired the students and faculties and received positive response. Many of them expressed their interest in visiting WEM and faculties expressed their appreciation of the lesson.

They are dream chasers, but standing out of the dreams. We are not able to imagine how the world would be without light or color. But when light strikes into darkness and sound makes its way to their hearts…. We lighted their world by light and color, sparked their dream, and made the world tender and softer, and they are as shining as the sun.

Serving as an extracurricular activity, WEM has always been exploring an effective link between museum and school. As a unit of socio-cultural education, we will firmly take steps to develop various educational activities for students, and let World Expo known by the students, seen in the classes and become a part of the life of the students.

Introduction to “WE Kids” Educational Series

WEM organized “WE Kids” Educational Series as an expansion of “WE MUSEUM” in order to provide all-round cultural experience, lessons, practice and entertainment for teenagers. By sharing knowledge of World Expo, it aims to stimulate the curiosity and spirit of exploration from the young generation and open up the door of wisdom to them.

In order to fully realize its educational role, WEM actively promotes “museum-school cooperation” and carries out “World Expo Mini Lecture” educational series by integrating the resources of museum and school. The said education series aims to stimulate the interest from the students by means of mini theatre, award-winning Q&A, games and etc. Students are encouraged to explore the world outside the class. With the help of mini lectures, exhibition visits and movie sessions, students are expected to have a better understanding of the concept, culture and spirit of World Expo so that they can have broader vision.
